"Mr John Dawson (of Pacific Erosion Control Systems, Ltd.) provided the logistical expertise needed for this project (Hayman Fire). He not only prepared the contract proposal, but also coordinated all staging area activity including product acquisition and sequencing, training, supervising labor crews and providing most of the needed equipment.
Mr Dawson obviously has many years of experience and the ability to make complex projects work well".

"This program involved the hydroseeding of approximately 750 acres (300 hectares) of landslides; the crew was able to maintain a rate of production that maximized use of the two helicopters, which were on site. Random checks on the ground confirmed that the product (seed, fertilizer, mulch, and tackifier) reached the target areas in a uniform manner at the specified rate of application."

"In the Escalante watershed, road access is impossible in many areas; in order to carry out this program efficiently, a portable mixing and dispensing unit was used to significantly reduce costs and increase production while still maintaining good results. The entire operation was carried out in a professional and efficient manner; with the cost per hectare being far less than initially predicted. "

"On July 3 and 4, I was able to inspect some aerial hydraseeding that was done between June 19 and 21. The germinates are 2-3 inches high and are growing well, with new germinates starting to show. The fiber matrix is continuing to cling to the slide on all slopes (slide is at +/- 80%) even though the area has experienced heavy periods of rain since application. Thank you for an efficient operation in Doc Creek. Results speak for themselves."

"The erosion control program implemented in the spring of 1996 has made a noticeable improvement in the water clarity during high run-off peiods. The water takes much longet to "colour up" than in past years and appears to clear up much quicker. It also appears that it takes higher levels of rainfall to affect the turbidity of the river. This should have a very positive effect on the Salmonids utilizing this watershed."

"This project was extremely complex in nature in that access was by barge only, and no camp facilites were available. Mr. Dawson was required to coordinate numerous other suppliers to ensure that contract requirements and timing windows could be met.
Mr Dawson's techniques, attention to detail and high quality of work were commendable. As a result, I am happy to report that the attempt to revegetate these landslides that are susceptible to extreme weather conditions, was completely successful."
